'Lady Blunt' Stradivarius: quick facts
The 'Lady Blunt', made in 1721 and named for Lord Byron's granddaughter Lady Anne Blunt, is one of the best-preserved Stradivari violins. In 2011 it set the public-auction record for any musical instrument, selling for roughly US$15.9 million through the auctioneer Tarisio in a charity sale to benefit Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief.
